Once again I’ll be giving my usual IPv6 introduction at the TechTalks of the Open Source School in Munich.
The talk will start at about 19:00 o’clock, language will be German. The event will be free of charge but registration is required.

A: “Why weren’t you at the meeting this morning?”
B: “Which meeting? I didn’t know about a meeting.”
A: “I send an e-mail to our internal mailing list.”
B: “I’m not on that list.”
A: “Sorry, that explains why you never send answers to my questions there.”
WTF
Last week I ordered some books from Amazon. I just check the delivery status and got the following:
Aktueller Status: Feucht
which translates to:
Current State: Wet
This is a very accurate description of the weather this weak. I needed some seconds to realize that Feucht it’s also the name of a town near Nuremberg where DHL has a depot.
Maybe I had a beer too much yesterday. Some people call this “The Ochs Effect”.
FUN
/me: “Hey, I’m one of your customers and you have a problem with your mail setup which can be fixed in no time.”
$Company: “We don’t see the problem. It’s been this way for years and you are the first one to complain.”
Basically they have two domain names one with a hyphen (-) in the middle and one without. I’m used typing to the one without hyphen when accessing their web site and when I send and e-Mail recently I also used the domain without hyphen.
There is an MX record for this domain but now server answering and the firewall is dropping all packets. So my Postfix tried to send the mail for five days and I was wondering why I didn’t got an answer in time.
The easiest fix would be to change the MX record and let the working mail server send error messages.
Unfortunately I don’t have the time to change right now to another company.
WTF
In May 2010 31/8 and 176/8 where assigned to RIPE NCC. This makes 8 /8 networks this year. Only 18 /8 networks are left.
