IPv6 Support Required for All IP-Capable Nodes

April 14th, 2012 No comments

RFC 6450 (BCP177)

New IP implementations must support IPv6.

For vendors this means: “Yet another RFC we won’t implement.”

Updates to current IP implementations should support IPv6.

Note the “should”. Either your ISP is already working on IPv6 support or not. They are not forced to implement IPv6. They can only be forced by you. Ask the support. Ask them often. Change your ISP if necessary.

Sabayon and IPv6

If your wondering why your Sabayon host is not doing any IPv6 (including SLAAC) check ip6tables. :-( There is a decent rule set for vintage IP but for IPv6 the default policy is to drop everything.
